Gingerbread Recipe

My Gingerbread Recipe

  • 1 1/3 cup of flour
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar (dark brown if you can find it)
  • 3/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 3/4 tsp ginger
  • 1/2 tsp allspice
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

 

  • 1/2 cup butter (softened, NOT melted)
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup molasses (i use blackstrap molasses-light just doesn’t cut it)
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla
  • 1 egg

heat oven to 350F
spray 8” pan

in large bowl, combine first 7 ingredients

add boiling water to molasses, butter & vanilla

combine all ingredients (egg last), and mix thouroughly

bake at 350F until done (20-30 minutes)

also: you can do as cupcakes (convenient single-serve gingerbread!!!).  cook for 18-20 minutes @ 350F. makes about 15 cupcakes.
